I would like to introduce you to Robbi-Sue’s Success Story (Sarge).
Many of you know him as Davey, but I like to call him Sarge because
of all the stripes he has. Sarge is a powerhouse of a stallion! Standing
an honest 15.3, he is a big, athletic, well balanced stallion that
maintains true Morgan type and disposition. Smooth and balanced on
both ends and in all gaits, his added size takes nothing away from
his Morgan beauty and heritage.
Sarge really impressed me from the beginning when my brother-in-law,
Joe, and I went to Wyoming to pick him up from Harvey Seidel. I had
seen Robbi Sue’s Mr. Alert several times and knew what the Robbi-Sue
lines were like. I knew Sarge would be a nice horse, but until I saw
him in the flesh being worked in the round pen out in Wyoming, I never
realized how much power and athleticism a horse could have. When Harvey
worked him in that round pen the evening Joe and I arrived, we stood
there with our jaws hanging wide open, awestruck. Sarge made the ground
shake and the wind whip each time he passed us. WOW, is the only way
to describe him. When you sit on Sarge's back you know you have a
lot of power under your seat. Most of Joe’s experience with horses
has been the quarter horse, but now includes a Morgan gelding I raised
and Joe plans to put him to work on the ranch he manages working cattle.
I would like to share with you what a fellow Morgan enthusiast
had to say about Sarge in the February 2004 issue of "The Western
Horseman" magazine. The issue contained an article about Bobbi
Blankenship of TruWest Morgans in Glendive, Montana and her passion
for the Morgan as a working ranch and cow horse. I am quoting the
article that contains Bobbi’s quotes about Sarge. The article states
in reference to Robbi-Sue’s Success Story as follows:
She was impressed with the horse’s 'double ended' build and
athleticism. "When he was at liberty in the pasture, he stuck his
hind foot into the ground and pivoted naturally. I like that natural
athletic ability in a cow horse," she points out. "The mating of that
stallion to Smokey’s mother resulted in a tailor-made Lineback dun
filly that has turned heads since the day she was born."
Bobbi liked that filly she got by Sarge enough to breed back two
more mares to him the next year resulting in another dun filly and
a chestnut colt.
With 18 Morgan offspring to his name he is proving his abilities
as a prepotent breeding stallion, consistently passing on to his offspring
these wonderful characteristics. In addition, being my first stallion,
I have found him very easy to handle and mindful of what is being
asked of him. I don’t think this horse has a mean bone in his body.
If you are looking for a stallion that will compliment your mare's
strong points, that has size, disposition and athletic ability, then
Sarge is worth taking a good hard look at. A bonus to all of his great
traits is the fact he is passing on his striking dun color.
